Marcel Durka, 2002 in Braunschweig geboren, studiert an der Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover in der Klasse von Prof. Marina Sandel. Trotz seines jungen Alters verfügt er bereits über umfangreiche Bühnenerfahrung in Oper, Konzert und Lied.

2026 sang er an der HMTMH den Notar Amantio di Nicolao in Puccinis „Gianni Schicchi“. 2025 war er Teilnehmer des Young Singers Project der Salzburger Festspiele, wo er in Sebastian Schwabs Kinderoper „Musketiere!“ den König sowie in Giordanos „Andrea Chénier“ den Il Maestro di Casa übernahm. Im selben Jahr wurde er als „Young Artist“ beim Leeds Song Festival aufgenommen und war an der HMTMH als Wirt in Humperdincks „Königskinder“ zu erleben. 2024 erreichte er das Finale des Internationalen Otto-Edelmann-Wettbewerbs in Wien und stand als Nardo in Mozarts „La finta giardiniera“ sowie als Frank in Strauß’ „Die Fledermaus“ in Hochschulproduktionen der HMTM Hannover und der HfM Detmold auf der Bühne.

Er ist Stipendiat des Cusanuswerks sowie der Hans-und-Eugenia-Jütting-Stiftung und Preisträger bedeutender Wettbewerbe, darunter des Internationalen Antonín-Dvořák-Gesangswettbewerbs (1. Preis, 2022, Kategorie „Opera Hopes“), des Wettbewerbs Beethoven Bonnensis (1. Preis, 2020), des Internationalen Stanisław-Moniuszko-Gesangswettbewerbs (2. Runde, 2025) sowie der Nachwuchspreis des Walter-und-Charlotte-Hamel-Wettbewerbs der HMTMH in 2025.

Marcel Durka, born in 2002 in Braunschweig, is studying at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media in the class of Prof. Marina Sandel. Despite his young age, he already possesses extensive stage experience in opera, concert, and recital.

In 2026, he performed the role of the Notary Amantio di Nicolao in Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi’” at the HMTMH. In 2025, he participated in the Young Singers Project of the Salzburg Festival, where he appeared as the King in Sebastian Schwab’s children’s opera “Musketiere!” and as Il Maestro di Casa in Giordano’s “Andrea Chénier”. In the same year, he was accepted as a Young Artist at the Leeds Song Festival and appeared at the HMTMH as the Innkeeper in Humperdinck’s “Königskinder”. In 2024, he reached the finals of the International Otto Edelmann Competition in Vienna and performed as Nardo in Mozart’s “La finta giardiniera” and as Frank in Strauss’s “Die Fledermaus” in university productions at the HMTM Hanover and the University of Music Detmold.

He is a scholarship holder of the Cusanuswerk and the Hans and Eugenia Jütting Foundation and has won several important competitions, including the International Antonín Dvořák Singing Competition (1st Prize, 2022, category “Opera Hopes”), the Beethoven Bonnensis Competition (1st Prize, 2020), the International Stanisław Moniuszko Singing Competition (2nd Round, 2025), and the Young Artists Prize of the Walter and Charlotte Hamel Competition at the HMTMH in 2025.
